Our Testing Service
Testing for Legionella bacteria can be a useful tool to help manage any risk. The need for testing should be identified during the risk assessment or during routine control and prevention measures. Once a need has been identified then Legionella testing can be carried out to establish or confirm any risk.
UKAS Accredited
Where a need to carry out testing has been identified it should be done using as UKAS accredited method. Using a UKAS accredited service is a requirement of the ACOP L8 and the Dept of Health's HTM 04-01. UKAS accredited testing will identify the type and level of bacteria present.
On Site Testing
On site testing kits do not meet the requirements of the ACOP L8 or HTM 04-01 and are limited in what they can detect. Most only cover one type of bacteria. However, they can be a useful tool when quick results are needed in an emergency situation.
